I'm surprised your ISP had such terms and conditions. I've had a similar idea and phoned a couple of ISP's including Demon, Easynet and Claranet telling them precisely what I had in mind and they enthusiastically said they wouldn't have a problem.

I've played around with a couple of D-Link WAP's with 3 metre antennas and was fairly amazed at the range. I think one WAP connected to a reasonable ADSL line, say 2Mb and a few WAP's configured as repeaters a decent metropolitan area could be covered. It would be cool to walk into a struggling independent coffee place and give them a window sticker offering free access when all they have to do is plug a WAP into their mains.

I've had a look at Easynet's terms and conditions and your right, they don't mention anything about "sharing". By the way, if anyone reading this is based in St. Albans, I'm posting this using an unsecured network at the Blacksmith's Arms. I can also see (but not join) a network from The Cock across the road. Enjoy. ;-)

Radio planning experience..that would be me, then. I'm not much good at the IP side of things though.

Drop me a line if you're still interested..

What if the other users were accessing some illegal material on your connection - would you get an early morning visit as the connection would likely be registered with your IP address...?
