my top search terms

Last month I explained that I was using google ads and amazon links to try to recoup at least some of the costs (£18.25 per month) of running this blog and keeping my old sites hosted. Well, I didn’t sell a single item with my Amazon links and I pulled the dating site links off soon after I added them because I thought they were a bit tacky, but google came through with an impressive USD $31.08. My favourite currency converter tells me that this is £17.76.

Not bad – I came within 50p of this site paying for itself.

I reckon I could have done a bit better if there was some way to stop google from promoting irrelevant ads on my site. For example, I’ve seen lots of advertisements for all sorts of things that I simply can’t imagine readers of this blog being interested in. On the other hand, some of the top search tearms people put into the google search box on the right top corner of this page are a bit odd:

Even better than the ordinary pay per click search on Google Adsense is the new referral system. Basically, if you click on this button, then sign up for Google Adsense and make $100, I get paid $100 referral. If your site is getting, say, 200 visits a day you should be able to earn $20-50 a month with Google Adsense. If you’re considering it, I’d appreciate it if you used my link below (it doesn’t cost you anything) but, for those who hate ads, here’s a direct link (which I don’t get a thing for) http://www.google.com/adsense
