starving buskers – unexpected consequence of iPods

ipod vs the busker Ever wondered what George Bush has on his iPod? No, me neither, but courtesy of BBC News Online we found out this week that he listens to Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton and a few country singers I’ve never heard of.

Speaking of iPods, earlier this week I found myself wondering how much the takings of buskers (street performers) on the tube have been affected by the ubiquity of the iPod? Think about it – a few years ago, most people who walked by a busker would have at least heard them. Nowadays, we stroll by listening to Arctic Monkeys, Tiesto or whatever else happens to be on our iPod – oblivious to the busker’s song. Yet another unexpected consequence of digital music players… ;-)

  2. It might make an interesting study. We might find that buskers taking are completely unaffected by the dawn of the iPod, it may just be that ppl still give them money no matter what?
