A sheriff’s deputy in Manatee County, Florida is reportedly sueing an unnamed message board user (named "Jane Doe" in the suit) for libel. The deputy alleges that she was the victim of sex-related gossip that brought her into "public scandal and disgrace".
The website, which is a forum set up by a retired Tampa police officer to allow officers to discuss their departments online, was in the news a few months ago when a judge rejected a lawsuit by the Hillsborough County (Florida) Police who wanted the names of several posters to be disclosed.
