what do the “top 5” blogs have in common?

What do the top five blogs, as determined by Technorati (about technorati), have in common? Well, I set myself the task of finding out.

The top sites listed at 13.30 on Tuesday 13 June 2006 are:

1. Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful Things
3. Engadget
4. Daily Kos: State of the Nation

First I used a websites as graphs visualizer to see what the sites themselves looked like when graphically represented:

What do the colors mean?
blue: for links (the A tag)
red: for tables (TABLE, TR and TD tags)
green: for the DIV tag
violet: for images (the IMG tag)
yellow: for forms (FORM, INPUT, TEXTAREA, SELECT and OPTION tags)
orange: for linebreaks and blockquotes (BR, P, and BLOCKQUOTE tags)
black: the HTML tag, the root node
gray: all other tags

What does it mean? More later but I’m happy to hear your comments so far.
