“flashmob” software to mobilise israel’s supporters online

Almost since the day the current conflict involving Israel-Hezbollah-Lebanon began, people have been writing that it’s likely to be the most blogged about war.

The mainstream media was, I think, initially surprised by the amount of quality coverage being provided by bloggers and then, again, by the ability of the blogosphere to investigate and expose the faked reuters photos.

But this isn’t just a war that’s being covered by bloggers, it’s also a war of opinion that’s also being waged in the comments of blogs, forums, online polls and chat rooms.

GIYUS, a group that calls itself a "coalition of Jewish and pro-Israeli organizations working together to help the Jewish community voice its opinion in an effective, active manner", has created a piece of desktop software to more effectively mobilise supporters of Israel in the comment space:

Megaphone, Giyus.org’s software, is delivering real time alerts about key articles, videos, blogs, surveys and update messages from the coalition to community members. Members can easily voice their opinions and work together to support Israel on the public opinion front.
