My blogs got me a job at BBC

No, not me. I already had a job at the BBC before I had a blog.

The London freesheet Metro carried a short snippet on Friday the 17th about a “blogger” who posted some video on youtube and landed a job at the BBC when producers saw it. Nevermind that youtube is a video sharing site, not a blog, and that the video pieces were actually part of a presenting job she’d already landed with the Sniny Media blog network…

“My blogs got me a job at BBC: A BLOGGER has landed a job as a BBC presenter after she was spotted on YouTube. Susi Weaser, 24, is now the “gadget guru” on BBC2’s entertainment and cookery show ‘Something for the Weekend’. Producers decided she was ‘a natural’ after seeing her present a series of one-minute gadget reviews for blogging network Shiny Media, which were then posted on the video-sharing website. ‘I never imagined just doing online videos would lead to an actual TV presenting job,’ said Miss Weaser. The former PR worker, from North London, first appeared on the Sunday morning programme last month.”

BBC News Online did the story too.
