bbc rugby world cup adds twitter

Rugbyworldcuptwitter The new BBC Rugby World Cup Blog, which launched at the end of last week, isn’t the first BBC blog or website to use twitter but it’s almost certainly going to be the most high profile use of the service by a European broadcaster thus far.

One of the most exciting things that the BBC Blogs seem to have done is to give programme and website producers the opportunity to innovate by adding additional services, from social bookmarking to social networking, to their pages – creating some compelling new content and new building audience communities in the process.

It’s also an interesting way of reaching out to existing audience communities on platforms and websites off bbc.co.uk and, potentially, tapping into new audiences in those spaces.

By the way, I’m back from my holiday today…
